Lift
A ball-handling fault where the ball visibly rests in your hands instead of rebounding. It is the same call as a carry. The referee judges that you caught the ball and threw it. What gets whistled can vary by referee and by level, so a contact that plays in one gym may get called in another. Clean sets leave the hands right away.

The libero reaches behind her head, lets the ball sit in her hands, and then flips it up. The whistle comes immediately. The other team gets the point.
