Roof
Gym slang for a stuff block. The ball hits the block and drops straight down on the hitter's side of the net. On the stat sheet it is still a block. On the floor it is the play that usually gets the loudest reaction, because the hitter did the work and the point ended at the tape.
Example
The swing is hard and the blocker's hands are over the net. The ball comes straight down on the attacker's side. The hitter is left looking at the tape.
